Learning & Skills Teacher Apprenticeship

The Further Education, Learning and Skills Teacher training programme prepares individuals to teach students aged 16 and above in various settings within the Further Education and Skills Sector (FES), such as FE colleges and independent training providers. Participants will learn to deliver a range of academic, vocational, and technical subjects, ensuring students achieve essential knowledge and skills through engaging lessons. The programme emphasises interaction with diverse learners and stakeholders, flexibility in supporting students with special educational needs, and a strong understanding of effective teaching methods. Participants will also uphold high professional standards and may manage others and budgets, preparing them for impactful roles in student progression to employment or further study.

The Learning and Skills Teacher will deliver engaging and effective teaching to students aged 16 and above.
Theories, Principles, and Models in Education and Training: They will explore key educational theories and models to inform effective teaching practices and enhance learner engagement. Teaching, Learning, and Assessment in Education and Training: They will develop skills to plan, deliver, and evaluate impactful teaching sessions, ensuring assessments align with learning objectives. Inclusive Practice: They will learn strategies to create an inclusive learning environment that supports and values diverse learner needs and backgrounds. Developing, Using and Organising Resources in a Specialist Area: They will focus on creating and managing high-quality resources tailored to speci�ic subjects or areas of expertise. Developing Teaching, Learning, and Assessment in Education and Training: They will build advanced techniques for teaching and assessment to drive learner success and improve overall performance. Teaching in a Specialist Area: They will gain subject-specific knowledge and methods to deliver effective teaching within a chosen area of expertise. Wider Professional Practice and Development in Education and Training: They will enhance professional development through reflective practice and contribute to the broader educational community. End Point Assessment Preparation: They will prepare for your final assessment with dedicated guidance, ensuring you’re confident in demonstrating the knowledge and skills gained throughout the course.
In-person Masterclass sessions: Hands-on training led by experts, offering practical insights and real-world skills through face-to-face interaction. Virtual Webinars: Live, online sessions where they can engage with their tutor, ask questions, and learn remotely from any location. Group Learning Forums: Collaborative spaces for them to discuss, share experiences, and learn with other participants in a guided group setting. Dedicated Skills Coach: A personal mentor who provides ongoing support, guidance, and tailored feedback to help them reach their learning goal. Online Portfolio: A digital platform where you can track progress, upload assignments, and showcase their work throughout the training programme. Assessments: Evaluations designed to measure their knowledge, skills and behaviours, ensuring you meet the required competencies of the programme.
Upon achievement, learners will receive certification to become a qualified Learning & Skills Teacher. They will be eligible to teach in subjects they have competent knowledge to learners aged 16+. They can further progress to a teacher programme.
Level 5 Learning & Skills Teacher
Will work as a Learning Skills Teacher, Lecturer, Tutor or Education Practioner and typically work in further education colleges, independent training providers, adult community learning or as trainers of large organisations.
