Community Sports Coach Apprenticeship

Coaching Strategies and Philosophy: They will cover the development of a personal coaching philosophy and strategies to effectively engage and motivate students in a school setting. ​Organisational Structure: They will focus on understanding the structure of educational institutions and sports organisations, and how to navigate within them to support the coaching role. ​Curriculum and Programme Design: This will teach them how to design sports programs and curricula that align with the educational objectives of schools, ensuring they meet both physical and academic development goals. ​Inclusive Practice: They will address strategies for creating inclusive sports environments, catering to diverse student needs, including those with disabilities or varying levels of ability. ​Facilitating Development and Skills Acquisition: They will focus on the methods to help students acquire physical and mental skills through coaching, including goal-setting and progression planning. ​Context, Culture and Policy: They will explore the broader cultural and policy context in which sports coaching takes place within schools, including government guidelines and school policies on physical education. ​Profiling: They will look at assessing and analysing the needs and abilities of students to create personalised coaching plans that enhance their development. ​Planning and Preparing for Schools Coaching Sessions: They will focus on lesson planning, ensuring sessions are well-structured, engaging, and effective for the learning and development of school students. Delivering and Evaluating Schools Coaching Sessions: They will learn how to execute coaching sessions effectively and how to evaluate the outcomes to improve future coaching sessions. ​End Point Assessment Preparation: They will prepare for your final assessment with dedicated guidance, ensuring you’re confident in demonstrating the knowledge and skills gained throughout the course.

In-person Masterclass sessions: Hands-on training led by experts, offering practical insights and real-world skills through face-to-face interaction. Virtual Webinars: Live, online sessions where they can engage with their tutor, ask questions, and learn remotely from any location. Group Learning Forums: Collaborative spaces for them to discuss, share experiences, and learn with other participants in a guided group setting. Dedicated Skills Coach: A personal mentor who provides ongoing support, guidance, and tailored feedback to help them reach their learning goal. Online Portfolio: A digital platform where you can track progress, upload assignments, and showcase their work throughout the training programme. Assessments: Evaluations designed to measure their knowledge, skills and behaviours, ensuring you meet the required competencies of the programme.

Upon achievement, learners will receive certification to become a qualified sports coach in schools. They will be eligible for coach practitioner membership in CIMSPA (Chartered Institute for Management in Sport and Physical Activity). They can further progress to higher level sport coaching or leadership qualifications

Level 4 Sports Coach Level 2 Certificate in Coaching Multi Skills

Will work as School Sports Coach in a Primary or Secondary setting within schools.
